Mountain Light Pictures is a division of Mountain Light Photography, Inc., a diverse business founded by Galen and Barbara Rowell in the early 1980s. Its original mission was to market and license the Rowells' pictures for use in advertisements, magazines, etc.

While it continues to license the pictures produced by Galen and Barbara prior to their deaths in 2002, Mountain Light Pictures today represents a select group of some of the finest working outdoor and nature photographers.

We seek out photographers who believe, as we do, that photography is a form of communication that must be must be honest and accessible. And we chose to work with people who share Galen's dedication to producing stunning, vibrant, pictures of all things rooted in the natural world. Our roster includes Robert Holmes, Chris Noble, Dennis Coello, Harrison Shull and Chris Linder.

The net result is an image library that contains thousands of fresh, topical, and beautiful photographs ranging from landscape, travel, and action/adventure to environmental and wildlife subjects. Geographically we have pictures from all seven continents and both poles.

There are two ways to search for pictures in our library:

• Our keyword-searchable database features images in common sizes. We are continually adding new images to the library, so be sure and check back often. Click here to start a search.

• The quality of our personalized service rivals the quality of our images. This choice is perfect for clients seeking in-depth submissions on very specific subjects or in very specific regions of the world. Our knowledgeable and professional staff can help you find the perfect image for each project. Upon request, submissions can usually be sent out the same day they are received. The rest of Mountain Light Photography has grown over the years, too. Housed in a historic converted bank building in downtown Bishop, California, Mountain Light Gallery markets fine art prints, posters, books, videos and DVDs, calendars, apparel and accessories, note cards and Galen Rowell Singh-Ray neutral density graduated filters.

We also offer photography workshops that are held in the stunning Eastern Sierra landscape and at world-class locations throughout the American West. They are taught by leading outdoor photographers. Our workshops are widely regarded to be among the very best available.

Mountain Light Press designs and produces camera-ready book packages photographs and text for major publishers such as Sierra Club Books and University of California Press.
